Happy Halloween: Why we love horror

Meg-John Barker is in the US at the moment so they took some time out during this Halloween period to make this video about why we seem to be so drawn to horror movies and fiction. The recent film It is the top-grossing horror movie of all time and makes some intriguing links between real-life horror and supernatural ancient evil forces. The video also shows some cool examples of Halloween house decorations in LA.

Content warning: There are brief mentions of child abuse and racist violence in this video as well as images of Halloween decorations including spiders.

If you fancy finding out more you can read Meg-John’s longer blog post about It and intergenerational trauma here.
